    Welcome to April! Thanks to all those members that came out to the Consulting 101 event at GW on Tuesday. It was a great event. There are lots of other exciting YCDC events coming up this Spring so be sure to check the website as events get posted. In particular, please come join us to celebrate YCDC's sixth anniversary on Thursday, April 29th at the Muse Lounge rooftop in Chinatown.

    This month we will be looking at the the Private Equity industry. As consultants think about moving along in their career and switching industries, PE is often a consideration. This week we are focusing on the basics of PE. Here Venture Choice highlights the basics of PE.

    Additionally, here is a video/podcast from Harvard Business School (HBS) from 2006 which outlines the boom of PE and walks through the basics of how PE firms operate and take firms over.

    In this installment, the NY Times highlights which PE firms are raising the most capital. While Goldman Sachs might be spending more of their time in front of congress these days, they have  been busy over last five years raising $55 billion for their private equity arm beating out the rest of the competition.
